Issued at:

Valid from:
2100 on Thu 21 Mar 2013

Valid to:
2300 on Fri 22 Mar 2013

Rain will become heavy and prolonged on Thursday night, persisting through much of Friday. The public should be prepared for localised flooding and

disruption to travel.

Frontal bands pushing northeastwards during the latter part of Thursday and during Friday will find their progress slowed up by a blocking area of high pressure located northeast of the United Kingdom. This will result in the associated rain-bearing systems becoming slow-moving over southwestern parts of England and Wales leading to heavy and, at times, prolonged rainfall. 40 to 60mm is expected to fall widely over southern parts of both Cornwall and Devon by the end of Friday with the potential for in excess of 100mm to fall over exposed southern and southeastern upslopes. Southeasterly winds will also increase to reach gale force around exposed coasts and also over high ground.

HEAVY SNOW UPDATE UK

Jan 13

newlynweatherview

** Heavy snow update **

Snow just about everywhere! sleet across western areas but across the North, East, and SE it’s falling as snow!

Some of you may check the radar and see snow/precipitation over you, look outside to find the odd flake or next to nothing, this is because we have a layer of drier air so not all of the precipitation is reaching the surface at the moment.

Kris will do an upgrade for the 18z runs and talk about the potentially disruptive spell of snowfall.

  •  Valid from 2000 Wed 28 Nov to 1100 Thu 29 Nov

Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing overnight across many parts of England and Wales along with southeast and northeast Scotland.

Due to the recent wet weather there is an increased risk of icy patches, even on roads that have been treated with salt because water run-off or seepage may wash off any earlier treatment.

Latest weather warnings

Flash warning of severe weather

Further flooding likely.

A further area of low pressure is expected to push in to the UK from the west during the course of this afternoon and into the evening. A further 30mm of rain is possible across Western parts of England and Wales compounding already existing flooding problems.

This rain will then move further North and East during the night. The rain may persist in the NE of England in particular, and given saturated ground here too, further flooding is possible, particularly across Yorkshire.

If you are concerned about your property please visit the Environment Agency website to check the latest flood warnings in your area.
